Our Minister

Zion is currently searching for a new Minister.

The Ministry Profile Search (MPS) Team has just posted a position for a full-time minister to be shared between Zion Armstrong and St. Andrews Enderby.

Worship Leaders for Fall 2021

Worship at Zion promises to be a wonderful and varied experience this Fall!

A group of very talented individuals are leading the services while the Ministry Profile Search Team seeks to call a new minister.

Guest ministers Rev. Heather Burton and Rev. Donald Schmidt will share the schedule as their time allows, supplemented by Lindsay Lundquist, Louise Burton, Rev. Wendy Adams, and Rev. Lorraine Powell.

For schedule details see the August 25 Messenger

Rev. Heather Burton has ministered at Zion several times in the past, and we know her as a gifted spiritual leader and caring friend.  Since retirement from Winfield United Church in 2008 she has been active in many areas: supply ministry, art, catering and giving cooking lessons.  And she says, “I love to travel and have been fortunate to indulge that in my retirement.” She and husband Rev. John Burton, also a retired United Church minister, live in Lake Country.

Rev. Donald Schmidt returned to his native Canada in 2015 following a 30-year distinguished ministry career in the US and was ordained in the United Church. Since retiring in 2019 he has kept busy doing fill in ministry work throughout central BC and writing the “Bible for Progressive Christians” books for Wood Lake Publishing. Donald lives in Kelowna with his partner Kevin.  When not writing or leading Bible Study he loves nothing more than spinning wool and knitting and going for long walks.

Lindsay Lundquist has been a musician at Saint Andrew’s United Church in Enderby for 21 years. She enjoys leading worship and feels that she has been led in this direction, much to her surprise! Lindsay is an award-winning singer/songwriter/actor and is known for writing/directing/producing original dinner theaters as fundraisers for MacKenzie Camp. She is a self-confessed idealist and an unabashed optimist who believes that life is too short not to laugh.

Louise Burton LLWL is a long-time member of Zion United Church Armstrong. Following retirement from her career as a Physiotherapist she took the United Church Licensed Lay Worship Leader Program through Prairie Christian Training Centre (the prairie version of Naramata) and graduated in 2003.  She has led worship in many churches throughout the former Kamloops Okanagan Presbytery, as well as here at Zion United. Louise is passionate about golf in the summer, curling in the winter, and travel all year long!

Rev. Wendy Adams was ordained to congregational ministry at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Armstrong in 2007. She retired in 2015 and then worked for 3 seasons at All Saints Anglican Church leading their children and family ministry program. Since retiring again Wendy has focused on music and art and hopes to continue facilitating Christian Retreats after the pandemic.
